A Florida police deputy, fired for drunken misconduct, is suing for damages on the grounds that alcoholism is a recognized handicap. Sgt. Clinton Knowles was fired in 2008 after drunkenly groping 2 women. But Knowles claims in his lawsuit that the Sarasota's Sheriff's office had a duty under Americans with Disabilities Act to accommodate the perceived and/or actual alcoholism of the Plaintiff" and enroll him in a rehab program.
